Lawrence (Larry) Daniel Sheriff, deeply cherished husband, father, Gampo, uncle and friend, peacefully went to be with Jesus on April 11, 2025.

Born on August 14, 1931 in Seattle, Washington, Larry was the eldest child of Helen and Joseph Sheriff.  He was the loving husband of Mary Nicholson Sheriff, his high school sweetheart.  Together, Mary and Larry shared a remarkable 60 years of marriage before Mary’s passing in 2013.

Larry was the beloved father of Cindy (Karl Hutter), Celia (Larry Bradley), and Kelcie Sheriff.  He was the much-loved Gampo to his grandchildren Gabrielle Hui-Hutter (Gabriel Hui), Tyler Bradley, Seppi Hutter (Laura Ovsak), Torrie Bradley Vardaro (Nick Vardaro), and Sara Mayr-Sheriff — and to his great-grandchildren, Josephine and Margaux Hui and Baylen and Riggins Vardaro.  For the past three years, Larry shared love and companionship with Marilyn Canaan, who survives him.

Larry graduated from Garfield High School, class of ’49.  At the mention of his alma mater, Larry would light up and exclaim, “Purple, white, fight!”  Larry earned a degree in Business Administration at the University of Washington, class of ’53, through the ROTC program.  As a First Lieutenant in the USAF, he served as Finance Officer at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, South Dakota.  After his service to his country, Larry went on to own and operate Pacific Coast Stamp Works, later known as Mastermark, in Seattle, Washington. He did so with much dedication and integrity.

Larry was a generous, kind, warm-hearted, friendly man who lived a life filled with love for God, his family and friends.  His love for God was foundational for his life and throughout his adulthood he was involved with a variety of ministries that touched the lives of others around the globe.

From the passion he had for adventure, Larry traveled extensively, thoroughly enjoying the food, scenery, swimming, and interactions with the locals, especially in Italy and Mexico.  He also loved boating, gardening, flying his Cessna, going for walks, soaking up the summer sun, occasionally making his killer margaritas for those blessed enough to be present, and generally enjoying life with family and friends.

Larry suffered from complications of diabetes and passed away peacefully.  We thank God for the gift of Larry’s life and are grateful to God for his gentle passing.  He will be forever missed.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 1:30pm, at Bellevue Church in Bellevue, Washington.
