Constance Joan (Askew) Smith peacefully passed on March 22, 2025 at the age of 85. Known as Connie, she was born on August 20, 1939 in Fargo, North Dakota to Harry and Theona (Tiny) Askew. Then known as Connie Jo, she moved to Washington State at a young age. She attended Fife High School where she graduated in 1957. She married Carl Smith from Seattle on May 26, 1962. They shared 42 wonderful years of marriage until his death in 2004. They raised a family in Renton WA. She spent her last years at The Lakeshore senior living community in Seattle where she enjoyed her time with many great friends.

Connie was a devoted mother to son Dominic Smith, son Marty Smith, daughter Julie (Fuzz) Hill, son Bernie Smith, and son Jon Nimitz, a cherished grandmother of Samantha Hill and Jaclyn Hill, a loving (big-mama) sister to Colleen (Danny) Adams, a treasured aunt to niece Karrie Cole-Swain, nephew Marshall Adams, and a great aunt to great nieces Elodie Swain, Ashlynd Adams, Piper Adams, and Madelyn Adams. She was beloved by many friends of all ages.

A Catholic grave-site service will be held on April 28, 2025 at Gethsemane Cemetery, 37600 Pacific Hwy S, in Federal Way WA. This will be followed by a Celebration of Connie’s life at Brown’s Point Improvement Club, 201 Ton-A-Wan-Da Ave NE, in Tacoma WA.
