Doris Meda Smith

Doris Meda Smith, née Thompson, died peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025.

Doris was born on December 8, 1924 in Bremerton, Washington to Meade Thompson and Lulu Bunker Thompson.  Affectionately known as Doie, Doris had recently celebrated her 100^th birthday at her residence at the Farrington Court Assisted and Senior Living community, surrounded by many family members.

She and her older sisters, Lucile and Nina Thompson, attended Bremerton High School.  Doris also attended the University of Washington where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha’s Psi chapter.

In September of 1950 she married Edwin L. Smith from Texas, who died in September of 2016.  They lived briefly in Ohio, Alabama, California and Florida before returning to Washington State permanently.

Doris is survived by two daughters Patricia Cameron and Carolyn Lighty, and grandson Jacob Lighty.  Her remains are with those of her husband at Tahoma National Cemetery.
