Shawn Albert Sorenson
Shawn Albert Sorenson passed away peacefully on Jan 12, 2025 at home. Born in Moscow, Idaho to Jim and Mary Sorenson on Aug 25, 1950, he was raised in the Wedgewood neighborhood with siblings Terri and Jamie.
He attended Our Lady of the Lake, Blanchet High School and the University of Washington where he received a degree in business. He moved to San Diego in 1973 where he met his future wife Lori and returned to Washington in 1974. They lived in Kirkland where Kim and Matt were born and started a successful plumbing business which he ran for 40 years.
They moved to Redmond to a home with a basketball court and room for a batting cage. Shawn was a great athlete with a love of sports that he passed on to his children, grandchildren and the many teams he coached. He enjoyed playing and coaching and treasured the many friendships he made along the way. He played competitively until he was almost 70.
His greatest love was his family and he took great pride and joy in each of them. He also enjoyed traveling and family vacations to Hawaii and Europe.
Shawn was kind, fearless, funny, protective of those he cared about and a fierce competitor who always gave his best in sports and in life.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Lori, daughter Kim Faust, spouse Mark, children Emily and Mia, son Matt, spouse Mari, children Saatchi and Bodhi, sister Terri, numerous nieces and nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his father Jim and mother Mary. His brother Jamie passed Jan 15, 2025.
A celebration Of Life will be held Feb 10th at 11am at Holy Family Church in Kirkland. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
