My husband (N. Keith Shawlee) worked with Caol at King County Medical Blue Shield for many years. We both left the company in the late 1980″s. We also were friends of Carol and Leo. Keith passed 12 years ago.
She was a wonderful person, great sense of humor, and ready to help whenever needed. While I haven’t seen her for a number of years, I totally remember her beautiful smile. Rest peacefully, Carol.

Our sincerest and heartfelt condolences to all of Carol’s family. You’ve
all been blessed to have such a warm and wonderful person in your
lives, whose memory will bring you joy and comfort. We met Carol,
her husband Leo and also John and Mary Jo through the Friends of
St. Patrick organization and for many years had the good fortune to
continue that friendship at each of the annual amazing Irish Dinners
held by the Friends of St. Patrick organization. Carol was a huge part of
the success of those dinners that brought many of the Seattle Irish
Community and many more together in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.
It was mostly those St. Patrick’s Day celebration dinners where we
would see Carol and she was always so kind, embracing, happy to see
you and always asked “How are you and how is your family”. We are
blessed to have seen and visited briefly with her recently and she was
just as warm and welcoming to us, as always. Rest in peace, Carol.

I knew Carol Axelson at Queen Anne High School. We were both class of 1964. Although I did not keep close contact with her over the years, I had one amazing encounter at an Irish Heritage Club Senior lunch. She happened to be seated across from me and we discovered we knew each other way back when. Judy Fruetel Donoghue

Aunt Carol will be missed! Even though she was not my blood relative, she was family along with Uncle Leo and the Costello family. Love each year to see her Christmas Village that grew every year! This summer I went and played poker with her and Mrs Costello at Agesis. What a fun memory that I will hold in my heart❤️ Love you Aunt Carol!
