Anthony S. Alvarado
Anthony S. Alvarado passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own residence surrounded by his family on September 6, 2024 after courageously battling an illness. He would have been 85 years old on October 7.
He will be remembered as a pillar of knowledge, a mentor to those seeking wisdom, and a jokester for everyone needing a laugh. Anthony was a loving husband to his wife of 48 years, proud father to his three children, and honored to be “Lito” to four amazing grandchildren. His family was his nucleus, his soul, his everything.
Known to his patients as Dr. A, Anthony went to University of California Berkeley and later attended medical school at University of Oklahoma. Dr. A started his own solo medical practice in the field of Orthopedic surgery with specialization in hand microsurgery and trauma in 1979. After 31 years, Anthony retired and eventually moved to be closer to his children.
Beyond his devotion to his profession, Anthony was a passionate gardener. His residence for 38 years could be described as a garden oasis as he molded the land with his own two hands. Anthony implanted his own character at his current residence with gardens named for all of his tribe members throughout the property.
His family will always have his writings Anthony made throughout the years. Many are profound words of wisdom from a remarkable mind and others are just the laugh we all need to heal. Anthony touched the lives of many. He will forever live in the hearts of all those that he touched. His family requests their privacy through this emotional time. He will be remembered through a private ceremony. The family invites donations in lieu of flowers, to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Center: http://fundraising.stjude.org/goto/AnthonyAlvarado

I’ve known Tony ever since I was a little boy and lived down the street from the Alvarado family. Tony was like a second father to me and so many other kids as well. Tony always opened up his home and welcomed me and so many other countless kids over the years. I’ve never met anyone as intelligent, as driven and hard-working and as family oriented and loving as Tony. Tony’s storytelling and sense of humor could keep anyone’s interest and attention peaked for hours. Tony had undying love for all those around him. Tony dedicated and devoted himself to his family, including his extended family, like me. I’ve always respected and admired and loved Tony! He will be missed by so many! I’m so grateful that I got to know Tony for as long as I did.
I love ❤️ you Tony! I’ll miss 😔 you Jefe!
Uncle Tony you were the most amazing person I have ever known, for not only what you accomplished but who you were as a person. As we discussed before, your true legacy is your beautiful family. I am so happy you were finally able to meet my son Daniel a couple of years ago – he really enjoyed talking with you. You were insightful, caring, passionate, wise and a beautiful person. I have always looked up to you and will never forget you. You have touched so many lives…I will truly miss you. Love and prayers to the beautiful Alvarado family….your nephew Noe Alvarado
I worked for Dr A for over 20 year. Dr A was a great teacher. He not only taught me about orthopedics, but also about friendship, literature and humor. He always had a great joke! How can we forget the monkey joke!
Dr A was passionate about orthopedics, he truly loved his practice, he truly care for his patients and his patients loved him back. Dr A loved his family dearly. His kids and Lori and grand kids were his everything. He was so proud of his children, his wife and grand kids. An his second great love were his books.
Dr A was a man of great wisdom, he had a great heart, very intelligent, very given and humble.
Although he’s no longer with us, he will live forever in our hearts. You will be missed Dr A. Till we meet again dear friend.
My deepest sympathy to The Alvarado Tribe
