Jose Maduro Macabata
On November 20, 2023, the world lost a warm and caring soul when Jose Maduro Macabata suddenly passed away from complications of diabetes.
“Uncle Joe” will be missed by family, friends, and all of those who had the pleasure to meet him.
Jose was born in Romblon, Philippines on March 19, 1946. He graduated from Romblon High School.
In the 1970s, he moved to Seattle, following in the footsteps of his his mother, Josefa Macabata, who had moved here years before.
Jose, upon arrival in the USA, lived with his brother; Plaridel Macabata, who had moved to Seattle in 1968.
Jose was a good hearted fellow, and enjoyed the company of family and friends, and was always known for sharing jokes and interesting stories. In his spare time, he liked collecting.
Jose worked as a custodian for the University of Washington at Harborview, for 41 years, retiring on January 1, 2020.
In his later years, Jose liked traveling to new locations and exploring the various hidden corners of Washington.
Jose is survived by his older brother Samuel Macabata, and his adopted brother Reynaldo Macabata (Philippines). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.
Jose was preceded in death by his Father; Sixto Macabata, his Mother; Josefa Macabata, and his Brother; Plaridel Macabata.
Jose attended services at St. James Parish.
His life will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Federal Way.
Jose will be laid to rest at Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery in Federal Way, Washington.
