It is with heavy hearts, we announce that Heike Elke Kaindl passed away on April 26th, 2023. A WWII survivor she was born in Hamburg, Germany on October 27, 1940. She was a beloved mother, sister to Rolf, Marianne, and Helga, widow, grandmother, and a dear friend to many. Heike is survived by her loving and devoted son Robert, a daughter (Yolande), four grandchildren (Erich, Jordan, Amy, Sarah), her dearest friend Cathy Eldred, many extended family members and countless friends from Germany, Canada, and the United States.

As a young child, her family immigrated from Germany to Canada. Later Heike met the love of her life Walter Kaindl. They married and later both immigrated from Canada to the United States. In 1958 they proudly became US citizens. Her love of country drove her to become a delegate of the Washington State Republican Party. From the humblest beginnings, Heike embodied the American Dream and was a true force of nature. She tragically lost her husband Walter to cancer, leaving her to raise her children alone. Heike never remarried.  Although Heike was a tireless and determined Angel on earth, she is now reunited with her beloved husband Walter in the arms of our heavenly Father.

Her discipline, work ethic, and steadfast determination propelled her to become a successful business owner of Salon Heike. Her clients became close friends as she loved, bringing out the best in them. Known for her impeccable aesthetic, she appreciated the beauty in art, nature, design, and entertaining. She had two true passions in life, golf and gardening. She loved to golf with her son at her local course (Legion Golf Course in Everett, WA) and they frequently traveled around the US to PGA courses. When not on the links, she was found tending to her award-winning garden in Mill Creek, where she lived for nearly 38 years.

A devout Christian, Heike was a faithful and generous member of her community, she worshipped and was a choir member at both Pinehurst and Alderwood Community Church for the last 65 years of her life. She often said, “I know exactly where I am going, so I have no worries.” In this time of sadness, we take comfort in knowing that Heike and Walter are once again reunited and walking hand in hand in God’s garden.

Heike’s unwavering love and indomitable spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Private funeral services will follow in the coming weeks where she will be buried next to her husband after 59 years since his passing, at the Floral Hills Cemetery.  We were blessed to have had the time we did with Heike.
