Catherine “Cathy” Norene Hoagland
October 25, 1952 – December 31, 2022
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Cathy Hoagland on December 31, 2022, at the age of 70.
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her sister Nancy (Randy), her brother-in-law Alex Kutsick, her 4 nieces, Heather Hansen (Dan), Jess Harrison (Cole), Alexa Flint (Eric), Molly Kutsick, her nephew Lucas Kutsick and her 7 great nieces and nephews.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Nancy and Floyd Hoagland, her sisters Ann, Sally, Mary, and her brother Tom.
Cathy was born in Seattle and lived there most of her life. She graduated from Shoreline High School in 1970 and from Washington State University in 1974 with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration. After graduating from college, she worked at the Westin Hotel in Seattle for several years (with a year at the Westin in Detroit). She had many interesting accounting jobs over the years including Crepe de Paris, National One Hour Photo and KWJZ Radio. Her last full-time job was at the Greystar Property Management Company.
Cathy loved living downtown in her Queen Ann neighborhood where she could walk to restaurants, bookstores, art galleries and concerts. She really enjoyed her role as the “eccentric” aunt. She was involved in her nieces, nephew and great nieces and nephews’ lives taking them to the Space Needle, hockey games, plays, etc. Besides her involvement with her family, some of her passions were reading, puzzles, knitting, music and travel. She especially liked travelling to England as she was interested in everything related to the royal family. Arizona and California were also on her list of favorite places to visit.
A celebration of Cathy’s life will be held on Saturday, February 11th at Shawn O’Donnell’s restaurant banquet room from 3:00-6:00 pm. The address is: 122 128th St SE, Everett, WA 98208.

Nothing I can say will ease your pain, but I am deeply sorry for your lose of Cathy. She touched your lives in so many ways. I love all of you, please accept my condolences!
Catherine was a steadfast friend since our meeting for the first time at The Olympic Hotel as she began her career. Many lovely lunches, brunches, dinners and movies over the years provided so many enjoyable times for us. I will miss her. Deepest sympathy to the family.
