Carey Michael Welch
Carey passed away peacefully at his home in Newcastle, Washington on August 8th of 2022. A gentle giant who’s laugh was contagious, Carey was as loyal as he was generous with his friends and family. Born in Chicago, Illinois before settling in Bellevue, Washington as a 9 year old, Carey embraced and loved all the Pacific Northwest had to offer. He attended Newport High School and graduated in 1977, before beginning a successful 40 year run at Boeing.
Carey spent time taking care of his mother Joan after her heart transplant, and was a fixture at her side for the additional 14 years of life she enjoyed thanks to that surgery. An avid camper, he spent many weekends with friends near a lake or river, and over the years enjoyed working on his big kid Ford trucks (first in white, then black, and then red). Traveling to San Diego to visit his dad and brother and two nephews was always greatly anticipated and tremendously enjoyed by his family.
Carey is survived by his father and stepmom Hal and Georgie, his brothers Bryan and Darren, his two nephews Braydon and Dillon, and his longtime girlfriend Janine. He will be missed greatly and rests peacefully and joyfully in our hearts and minds.

It is with great sadness to hear the passing of your beloved, Carey.
Although the joyful memories of, UW games, boating, Holiday Bowl games, visits to Carlsbad will provide some comfort, it’s the love and support of one another that gives you the strength. God Speed, Carey. You’re in our hearts forever. With love and affection, Jane Kelly
I worked with Carey, we have missed him greatly since he retired and are just now hearing of his passing. I wanted his family to know he was kind and wonderful and smart at work too! His departure was a big gap for us. I’m so sorry for your loss, as I’m sure that gap is much larger!

Carey was one of the nicest friends I’ve ever known at the Boeing Co. I truly enjoyed his friendship and guidance he gave me. Carey will be missed by anyone he knew. Our condolences from the McKnight Family.

I loved Carey he was the best lead for raw material at Boeing I had the pleasure working with him for more than 20 years. He was a wonderful person. My prayers go out to his family. He will be greatly missed

I was Carey’s inspector in raw material in the 17-08 building for many years. So nice to work with someone who was kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. I was proud to call him my friend. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. I pray he passed peacefully surrounded by love. Needless to say he will be very missed. May the good Lord take him on his “safety tour “ of heaven as he welcomes him with open arms. God bless you and your family

Carey and I were great friends in high school. I always looked forward to going to the Welch’s house to shoot hoops and work on Carey’s VW. Carey was always a good friend to me and I have nothing but fond memories of him. I also have great memories of his family. They always treated me like one of their own. I remember watching the Reds win the World Series at their home in 75.
I bumped into Carey at the New Castle Safeway about 5 years ago. I didn’t realize that was the last time I would see him. His memories are very much alive and I will always have great feelings towards Carey and his family.
