It’s with the heaviest of our hearts that we announce the passing of Rebecca Allemand. Rebecca was known to many as Becky. She passed away on April 3rd, 2022 at her home in Seattle, Washington. She had been battling COPD for over 10 years. Rebecca was a resilient person who fought with all she had to live for as long as she could.

Rebecca was born on February 12, 1951 in Spokane, Washington to her parents Elwin R Shook and Marlys L Shook (Herzog). Her parents preceded her in death (Elwin passed July 23, 2010 and Marlys passed on August 20,1988). She spent the majority of her life in Spokane, Washington. She moved to Seattle, WA in 2016 to be closer to her daughter, sister, nieces and other family. She was the oldest of three children and is survived by sister Brenda (Dick) Moritz, Seattle, WA and brother Barry (Linda) Shook Spokane, WA. Rebecca is also survived by many nieces and nephews (Haley Bloeser, Heather Hess, Ian Shook, Kylie Davis (Shook). Growing up she enjoyed spending time with her family, playing with her friends outside and caring for her animals. She worked while in high school. She graduated from University High School in 1969. Her senior year of high school in March of 1969 she married Lynn Allemand. Rebecca and Lynn remained married until 1987.

The most important accomplishment in her life was being a mother to her two children who are now adults (oldest daughter Angie Allemand, Mountlake Terrace, WA and son Adam Allemand , Astoria, New York. Rebecca devoted her life to her children when they were growing up. She was diligent to make sure they had everything they needed to be happy and healthy. She was also a great cook, she loved to decorate and shop, always dressed fashionably and kept a very clean home. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Rebecca was also in a bowling league for many years with her friends and had many fond memories of this experience.

Rebecca had many professions in her lifetime. She stayed at home to care for her children when they were younger and then was a part-time meat wrapper while her children were growing up. She went back to cosmetology school and became a cosmetologist when her children were in elementary school. She had a hair salon in her home where she would do the hair of friends and family. In the late 1980’s, Rebecca went to real estate school to become a realtor. This was a difficult time to go into real estate because interest rates had increased and the market wasn’t ideal to sell houses. Rebecca then went to work as a sales representative for a number of years for a variety of food brokerages in Spokane. Rebecca spent the last portion of her career working for The Bon Marche which became Macys. She loved to find a good sale while working there and enjoyed helping customers.

Rebecca will be dearly missed by all who came to know her. We will miss her passion about topics she felt strongly about, her sense of humor, her unexpected gift giving, her warnings about items being recalled and her sincere thoughtfulness.
