William Spencer Younie
William (Bill) Younie, 61, of Granite Falls passed away unexpectedly on December 18, 2021. William was born on September 23, 1960, in Seattle, WA to Guy and Patricia Younie. The second of three children, William graduated in 1978 from Nathan Hale High School.
In his younger years William demonstrated a natural knack for working with his hands; these capabilities eventually provided William with the ability to take on numerous skilled positions over the years. Initially working as a vehicle repair mechanic, William transitioned to seasonal work on fish processing boats in Alaska; eventually meeting his future wife and the mother of his two children, Carrie. After his children were born, William again transitioned to more skilled positions in the greater Seattle area as a mechanic for different companies. William remained in this profession until his early retirement in 2020.
William’s hobbies included playing the guitar, listening to music, working on cars, fixing up tools, ham radio, fishing, camping, watching baseball games and racecar events. When William was younger, he enjoyed playing baseball; taking yearly family trips in their trailer, which was where his love for camping and fishing began; also attending the Kittitas County Fair and parade in Ellensburg as a kid with his family. He continued the yearly traditions of camping and Kittitas County Fair with both of his children. William also had a love for German Shepherds, this spanned from his childhood with their two dogs to Annie, the family dog he raised with his own children, and finally, to his most recent dog, DJ.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Dylan; father, Guy; and mother, Patricia Younie. He is survived by his daughter, Christine; sister, Susan (Don) Osborne; brother, Mark (Stephanie) Younie; and nephew and niece, Cade and Piper Younie.
A celebration of William’s life will be planned for Summer 2022. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Northwest German Shepherd Rescue.
