James Richard Adams
September 3, 1941 – July 4, 2021
Jim Adams, 79, of Seattle, WA, was born on earth, September 3, 1941. He was born in Heaven on the 4th of July, 2021. Jim passed away given the diagnosis of cancer, while in the peace of his home and with his entire family. He was surrounded by the Love of his Life: His bride, Marilyn Adams, and their kids, as they shared favorite memories and played his favorite music at his bedside.
Jim’s pre-college career included various specialties – from cutting meat to parking cars to washing windows, working for his father in-law’s asphalt paving business, and bartending. He graduated from Seattle University with a degree in Marketing in 1967. He went on to work as a financial consultant – for larger investment firms in Seattle, and prior to retirement, in a smaller, more personal company he founded: Sound Investments. Jim was an ever-positive man with ceaseless faith and countless, wise mantras he constructed, regardless of the challenges at hand. He was humble and unafraid to wear his heart on his sleeve or tears in his eyes for the people and things about which he felt passionately. Jim loved to enjoy a competitive game of cards, croquet or crib with family, or his cronies, and loved to respectfully debate a political topic. He loved to read the newspaper. Jim LOVED to dance! He loved to man the grill at family gatherings. Jim was known for his words of wisdom, his huge smile, multiple, favorite sayings, e.g., “’Nothing more important than the 3 F’s: Faith, Family & Friends,” in addition to his dedication to celebrating the lives of his loved ones.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn (Strena) Adams; children, Sam Adams (Jim Everett); Nicole Adams (Eric Olson); Nickolaus Adams (Trina Adams) his brother, Jerry Adams; his sister in-law, Sandy Adams; his niece, Debbie (Lauren) Thompson; nephews, Gus (Rachel) and Parke Adams. He is also survived by his 3 cherished grandchildren, Kat Kirby, Alex Kirby and Gracen Adams. Jim was preceded in death by his son, Jason Adams, who went Home in 1980, in addition to his parents, Bob and Arlene Adams.
Funeral services will take place at St. Therese Catholic Church on Saturday, July 24th, 2021 at 10:00am. A reception will follow on site at St. Therese Catholic Church at 926 35th Ave Seattle, WA, 98122.

He was a beautiful man. Kind, fun, funny, wise. His legacy lives on in all of the people he met, cared about, and raised. May his family and friends find peace in knowing he lived and loved fully while on earth. Much love, Suzie
I feel so thankful to be able to look back (as far as my memories take me) and they are filled with the love and joy that Jim brought to everyone he knew. It really is a gift to be able to love people so well. Until we meet again….❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Your smiling face and positive outlook on life will be missed. I could not have asked for a better brother-in-law. Rest in peace Jim.
To Marilyn and family,
I am so saddened to read of Jim’s passing.
I know he was a great guy and I always enjoyed our work years together at PeoplesBank, back in the day.
My heart goes out to the entire Adam’s family at this time.
May your great memories bring a smile.
Rick
Lorna & I will always remember those incredible Eve before Christmas Eve parties Marilyn & Jim hosted. Those beautiful children who made us laugh and so proud to know them. The Adams were one if the first families to welcome us to St. John’s parish in 1976. Jim was a great friend & memories of him always make me smile.
Saddened to hear this! Be assured of my prayers….my greetings to Jerry. Fr. Jim Picton
Dear Marilyn, Donn and I are very saddened by the passing of Jim. We are praying for comfort and peace for you and your children. Jim was a great friend and it was our pleasure to know him. Sincerely, Donn and Geri Bodine
To the Adams Family
What a great friend Jim was to me and my family. Jim always saw the best in everyone. He was one of nicest persons I knew. When my father was failing Jim would call and visit with him on the phone, I know that my dad was so appreciated Jim’s calls , that was Jim, very thoughtful of others. I will miss his wonderful sense of humor.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Jim. He was such a great guy when we knew each other in school and afterwords now and then. I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember him. He was a great guy when we were young at school and lots of fun. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Molly Hughes
Dear Marilyn–
We were so sad to learn of Jim’s passing today. We have so enjoyed being “neighbors” at Chelan and sharing stories and laughs in the sun and in the lake. We will miss him immensely! Tom and I won’t be with you all this year (our kids will fill you in) but our memories of cheerful smiles and our sad hugs at the end of our week will long be remembered. Our love and prayers to you and your family.
I know your spirit is with God. Thank you, God, for putting Jim and Jerry, Bob, and Arlene into my life as we were growing up.The last time I saw Jim was at my mom’s funeral. We will all see each other in the Kingdom.
We are so very sorry for your loss. Jimmy was always a great cousin. I know my mom Catherine & father Donald thought fondly of Jim. He always made you feel at home and comforting when ever we had visits back home to Seattle. Our sincere sympathy on your loss, The Ford Family in NJ.
I never had a time with Jim that did not leave me feeling better as a person. For my classmates- “He loved to dunk on me at Schull Pavilion”
What a beautiful tribute. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all for peace and comfort knowing that your husband and dad at peace in his final resting peace.
Keep those memories near as they will keep you smiling for years to come.
I knew Jim through my brother, Jim Bertin. Whenever I saw him, his smile would warm my heart. So sorry to hear of his passing. He will be missed by many.
I can still hear Jim say; “Coulda-Shoulda-Woulda…but you know….it doesn’t matter, it’s all fine” with that wonderful smile.
Much love and admiration,
Chris
Marilyn & family: Today’s service was beautiful and I was touched to see how many people Jim had made an impact on in his life. We were only neighbours at Lake Court for a short time but I was always happy to see him and he always had a kind word. I am heartbroken for your family’s loss of a wonderful husband, father and friend, but he remains forever in your hearts. You will see him again.
Much love,
Heather M Brammer & Todd Green
George and I were so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. We definitely would have been at Jim’s remembrance had we known. We knew Jim to be such a caring person. When George stopped attending the outings of the friends in their profession, Jim always called and encouraged George to come along. Sometimes he even succeeded. George really like Jim and both George and I will definitely miss him
