Jean Harris
December 23, 1934 – June 18th, 2021
Jean Harris (86) died peacefully at home on June 18th, 2021, in the company of her two daughters.
Born Genevieve Hasse to Rudolph Carl Hasse and Genevieve Kush on December 23rd, 1934 in Elkhart, Indiana, she was the couple’s third daughter.
Jean spent two years at Indiana State University to become a teacher, then after getting married, she became a stay at home mom. Once her daughters were grown, Jean decided to return to school, starting at St. Ambrose University. She graduated with her degree in accounting in May of 1981. Following graduation she worked at St. Ambrose as a computer analyst, and retired in 1996. After retiring, she followed her oldest daughter out to Washington state.
For 31 years, she played 2nd violin in the Tri City/Quad City Symphony, and then was a part of the Seattle Banjo Club for about 10 years.
She loved to be on her kindle playing Words with Friends, Barnyard Majong, and reading. Jean also loved to work on puzzles, and listen to classical music.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her older sister Mary Shimer. She is survived by 2 sisters, Helen (Frank) Schrohe (Vero Beach, FL), and Rose Marie Tatman (Alexandria, IN); 2 daughters, Kathleen Casey (Redmond, WA), and Judith (Tim) Edens (Moline, IL); 8 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is buried at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline, Washington.
