Peter Hudson
August 23, 1946 – March 29, 2021
Peter was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, the eldest of 3 children of Desmond and Edith Hudson (siblings Jane and Michael).
He lived a life full of adventure and had many interests, including scuba diving, scouting, car rallies, ham radio, building/ operating drones and boating, and pursued a varied range of professions over his working career. He initially became certified in electronics and worked for several years for Phillips installing some of the first colored televisions in Ireland.
In 1969, he left Dublin to work on an American Air force Base on Resolution Island in Hudson Bay maintaining ‘early warning satellite systems’. After some additional time in Toronto, he returned to Dublin in 1973 to set up his own business, Hudson Electronics, with his father. He left Dublin for the second time in 1979 moving to Florida to obtain a Private Pilot’s License and then went on to obtain a degree in Aeronautical Engineering at St Louis University. He went to work for Ozark airlines and then moved to Seattle in 1987 to work for Alaska Airlines wiring the interior cabins of airplanes. Faced with the prospect of being transferred back to the midwest, he took night courses at PLU, earned his MBA and became a real estate agent and mortgage broker with Skyline properties.
Peter met his wife, Anne Sherwood, at the Seattle Singles Yacht Club as they discovered their mutual love of sailing and Celtic music and culture. They married in 2002 surrounded by friends from RSCDS (Royal Scottish Country Dance Society), Irish set dancers, music and sailing. One of the highlights of Peter’s life was bringing his newly acquired 47’ Beneteau sailboat “Juliana” over the Caribbean Sea from St Maarten and through the Panama Canal.
Sadly, he developed heart disease before having much chance to sail Juliana in the Pacific NW and soon thereafter had to retire from work.
Peter passed away at the age of 74 from congestive heart failure complicated by COVID 19.
He was a familiar presence at RSCDS events and various sailing rendezvous for many years and was a gentle soul who lived life very much on his own terms.
Peter is survived by his wife, Anne, his beloved golden retriever, Paxton, and a number of relatives in Ireland and England.

Dear Anne,
Reading about Peter’s life, we realize how fully and diversely he lived – through his career choices and many interests. Peter was given so much in life – the best gift, undoubtably, was you. We are sorry he wasn’t given more days and wish you the peace that comes from the love and friendship you and Peter shared. Our love and deepest condolences, Donna & Glenn
I only met Peter a few times at the Monday night Scottish dance class. I am really impressed by his breadth of experiences and interests, a real Renaissance man. I’m saddened that I didn’t have more of an opportunity to get to know him. Condolences.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I was so impressed by Peter’s ability to reinvent himself multiple times, including making his way to a yacht club in Seattle where he met the love of his life, Anne. What an amazing fellow who contributed to the world in so many different ways.
I remember Peter’s welcoming presence at your summer garden dance parties. I am sorry for your loss.
I won’t forget Peter’s big smile of greeting whenever we met. He always seemed so glad to see me. I could hear it on the phone the last time we talked in spite of his being so sick. I so enjoyed his our conversations about past adventures and his new hobbies. He was a nice man, the kind we need more of.
Dear Anne,
Sorry to hear this sad news. Peter lived a full and happy life. You will miss him but remember the good times. Thinking of you, Irene
Anne, this is a beautiful tribute. I am so glad you and Peter got to share your lives with each other. I wish I had had a chance to know Peter better. Much love to you.
I am sorry Anne that we cannot give Peter a proper Irish send off. Perhaps down the road.
Anne: We remember your stories of travel & adventure, your Scottish dance outings and pot luck dinners during happier times. Clearly you shared much in common, enjoyed your close friendships, and cared for each other very much. Peter was extremely lucky to have you in his life for the time he did and we know you’ll miss him.
With love & our sincere condolences,
Brad & Val
We were so sorry to hear about Peter’s departure, but are so glad that we got to meet him some time before his physical decline. He was such a gentle and kind person and we will miss his visits with us when we finally get to dance together again.
Lots of love.

Hi Anne,
It was so nice of you to share this with me. I loved meeting you and Paxton last week and the pic of Peter with the dog print shirt is so cute. You two look very nice as a couple in your pic together. Thanks again for sharing a little part of your life with me. I am honored. Sorry again for your loss and I hope your future is as bright as your lovely character.
Sincerely, Darlene Brown
Anne, thank you for creating this wonderful reminder of who Peter was in all his many facets! When Les and I made his acquaintance through you we didn’t really have a whole picture of his life before that time. He was amazing! I appreciated his love of music and the violin and how much he loved you. His smile is stuck in my mind forever. I’m glad you had the time to share all the things you had in common, even though it may not have felt long enough. You know that we are holding Peter and you in our hearts.
