Jerry Lee Beggs, 86, of Lake Forest Park, Washington, passed away suddenly and unexpected on the morning of Friday, October 9, 2020 at his home.  He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Jerry was born midway between Lubbock and Amarillo in the small town of Muleshoe, Texas on February 23, 1934 to the late Marion “Archie” and Verna May Beggs.  He was the oldest of three brothers, Max, Jim, and John.  Many entertaining, legendary family stories about the brothers’ exploits while growing up are regularly rehearsed at family gatherings.

Jerry entered the Army in 1953 at the age of 19 where he served as a Helicopter Mechanic in Korea and Japan during the Korean War.  After the war, he married Leta Faye Dozier with whom he had two children, Michael Lee in 1961 and Robert Allen in 1966.

He had an accomplished career that spanned over forty years in the Airplane and Aerospace industry with The Boeing Company.  He lived in Amarillo, Texas, Lom Poc, California, and Huntsville, Alabama, but spent most of his life in Seattle, Washington.  Also, during the 1970’s and 1980’s, he worked with his wife as proprietor of Customcare Carpet Cleaners.

Upon retirement in 1998, Jerry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and travelling with his wife, Leta: across the U.S. in their RV Motorhome, and in England, Scotland and Ireland.  He also actively participated in music groups at church and in numerous retirement homes.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Leta Faye (Dozier) Beggs on December 10, 2018, daughter-in-law, Becki Beggs, and sisters-in-law, Mary Beggs and Joyce Kirk.  Survivors include sons Michael (Teresa) Beggs of University Place, Washington and Allen Beggs (fiancé Pamela Wistrom) of Valencia, California, five grandchildren, three brothers, a brother-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

As most church sanctuaries are either closed or severely limited in their functioning due to Covid-19 restrictions, internment will take place at Holy Rood Cemetery on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 1 pm.

Attendees are requested to remember State mandated Covid-19 restrictions and wear a face mask and practice responsible social distancing.
