Roberto M. Reyes
Roberto M. Reyes (Bobby) was born on 27 March 1937 and joined his Creator on 11 October 2020. He is pre-deceased by his father (Alfredo), his mother (Ester), and his sister (Betty). He is survived by his wife, Ofelia, his children: Mae Marjorie (Mike), Michael Roberto Jr. (Tina), Mae Arabelle (Jeremy), and his grandchildren: Christopher, Cerese, Chezzie, Mattz, Laura, and Lucas. He is also missed by his sisters: Bellie (Orly, deceased), Bella (Frank, deceased), Becca (Tony, deceased), Bebeng (Jun), Bessie (Monching), and his brother Freddie (Evelyn) as well as his many nephews, nieces and close relatives.
The eldest of eight siblings, Bobby was an industrious man who put himself through school and became a lawyer. He practiced insurance law for many decades and set up a small brokerage on his own before he retired. He loved going on treasure hunts, fishing, and hunting but most of all he loved being with his family.
He was married to his wife, Ofie, for 54 years and was a constant presence at home, always providing guidance, advice and a comforting hand. He was patient and kind. He was serious but also prone to laughter. He would often sing his own renditions of old songs like Whispering Hope and Yellow Bird.
Bobby told his children stories of his childhood, and World War II, and of growing up in Manila and selling candies and cigarettes on the streets. He made sure they knew what had been and who they were related to.
He took his family to enjoy the outdoors, pick fruits, go to beaches, eat coconuts, walk rice fields or go fishing from bridges and piers. As he was with his children, so was he with his grandchildren. He read them books and told bedtime stories like his own version of The Monkey and the Turtle. He played with them as he watched over them.
Bobby made sure that everyone was provided for. He gave his children the best education that he could afford and as a result, all three finished their degrees.
As he was a dedicated family man, Bobby was also deeply religious. He was devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Divine Mercy. He prayed constantly, giving as much to his Devotions as he could.
In the end, he passed away peacefully in bed surrounded by his family whom he held very dear.
Rest in peace now, Daddy. Your job is done and well-done indeed. We will forever love you and miss you and keep you in our hearts.
