Melbourne Daniel Smith
Melbourne Daniel Smith was born on July 7th, 1953 in Susanville, CA to Melbourne Lester Smith and Lauretta Carolyn Olson. He passed away on July 25th, 2017 in Kirkland, WA at the age of 64.
Dan grew up in Oakland, CA and graduated from Skyline High School. After high school he moved to Mercer Island, WA to work as a builder. He attended Mercer Island Covenant Church, where he became involved with the youth program and met Sonja Lindberg, whom he married in 1982. They were married for 29 years, lived in Bellevue, WA, and had 3 daughters: Kirsten, Kimberly, and Samantha.
Throughout his life Dan was very dedicated to his craft building homes first as a builder himself and then as a superintendent for many companies including Murray Franklyn, Chaffey Construction, and Hoxie Huggins Construction, where he worked up until his passing. Over the years he built many beautiful homes that will always be reminders of his hard work.
He was an incredibly passionate person who loved spending time with friends and family on many camping trips and outdoor adventures. There was never a day when Dan wasn’t up for helping out those around him, and more than anything he was known for his giving and empathetic nature.
Dan is survived by his three daughters Kirsten Smith, Kimberly Smith, and Samantha Smith, as well as his father Melbourne and his brothers Greg and Timothy Smith. His mother Lauretta preceded him in death.
His memorial service will be held at Newport Covenant Church in Bellevue, WA at 10am on August 25th, 2017.

A sad loss. I imagine Dad up in heaven making Jesus and all the heavenly host laugh and I can hear his laugh as I write this.
Blessings & hugs to each of his family.
