Jean Stroming
Aug 27, 1930 – Sept 14, 2016
Jean Stroming, 86, passed away Wednesday September 14, 2016. Jean was born Jean May Stenvik on August 27, 1930 to Erling and Klara Stenvik who immigrated here from Norway. She grew up with six siblings in Everett, WA living a small-town life riding bicycles, dancing, twirling batons. As a young adult she moved with her friends to the big city of Seattle which she loved and lived in for most of her life; she was a city girl. For many years Jean worked in downtown Seattle in the insurance industry where she was introduced to her loving husband of 37 years, Edward Stroming. She enjoyed bowling, bocce ball, cooking, traveling, theater and spending time with family. In retirement, Jean and Ed lived in Sun City West, AZ for several years where she volunteered at Del Web Memorial Hospital. She was a proud breast cancer survivor for more than 20 years and bravely battled head and neck cancer for the last year. Her family remembers her as a sweet, gentle, loving, unselfish, and strong woman. She always put others before her and got joy from their happiness. Jean raised two daughters as a single parent; with limited resources and with a loving extended family, she had the strength and resolve to make sure that they didn’t want or miss out on anything. Jean is survived by her husband Ed; siblings Esther McCarthy, Erna (John) Mallory, Ellen (Bob) Morris, and Pat Stenvik; children Julie Holden, Jeannie (Rich) Reinhart, Barbara (Jerry) Seitz, Ken Webster, Shari (Steve) Gardner, Sandi Hart (Stan Christie), Terri (Andy) Heckroth, and Mark Stroming. She is also survived by grandchildren Garrett, Nolan, Lindsay, Aaron, Elaine, Rachel, Robbi, Ryan, Tod, Tyler, Mark Jr. and Emjay. She is preceded in death by siblings Odd, Henry and Gunnar (Lois). Jean was also very proud of her many nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. Suggested memorials include donations to the American Cancer Society. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, October 15, at Foster Golf Links, 13500 Interurban Ave S, Tukwilla WA. A light buffet will be served.
