Samuel Frederick Adrian

March 2, 1978 – September 23, 2016

Sam Adrian, of Kirkland, Washington beloved son, brother, and friend passed away suddenly on Friday, September 23 at the age of 38.  Samuel Adrian was born in Moline, Illinois on March 2, 1978, the son of Carl and Rheta Adrian.  At the age of 9 he moved with his parents and younger sisters to Casper, Wyoming where he became an avid tennis player, downhill skier, and developed his love of hunting and fishing.  At 16 Sam moved with his family to Cedar Falls, Iowa.  He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1996.  That fall he entered the University of Iowa where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and became a lifelong fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes.  Upon graduation, Sam began his career in banking. He worked for Iowa State Bank and Trust, Commercial Federal Savings, and Bank of the West.  It was in Iowa City that Sam acquired his faithful companion, his dog, Layney. In 2006, Sam and Layney followed his parents to Washington State where he took up residence in the Seattle area working for 10 years at Banner Bank.  Earlier this year Sam became a Vice President at Puget Sound Bank, based in Bellevue.  He was the Treasurer and served on the Board of Directors of the Firland Foundation. Sam also became an avid Seahawks and Mariners fan attending many of the games.  In 2015, Sam met what turned out to be the love of his life, Keanan.

Sam was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, an uncle, and his dog Layney.  He is survived by his beloved Keanan Jacobson, his parents, Carl and Rheta Adrian of Kennewick, Washington, sisters Elizabeth (Andy Nelson) of Creston, Iowa and Margaret (Jarron Tate) of Omaha, Nebraska, four nieces and one nephew, an aunt, Janet Anderson of Lake Bay, Washington, uncles Gerald (Hertha) Presuhn of West Bend, Wisconsin and Roger (Debra) Presuhn of Hart, Michigan, and a multitude of friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, October 3 at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Kent, Washington.  In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the University of Iowa Foundation www.uifoundation.org/ways/, The Humane Society of Seattle King County www.seattlehumane.org/donate/donate-now, or the Firland Foundation and Workshop www.firland.org.
