David E. Owen
On June 3, 2016 David lost his courageous five year battle with Plasma Cell Leukemia. He passed away peacefully at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, WA with his loving wife at his side.
David was born on February 16, 1964 in New Orleans, LA to Eugene and Dolores Owen. He was raised and educated in Renton, WA.
David actively participated in sports from a young age including being a catcher in little league baseball and later, he was a guard for his high school football team. David also learned to play golf at a young age because both his parents are avid golfers and it was an activity they could do together as a family. David had a love of the outdoors and the beauty of nature. David’s greatest passion by far was fishing and being on the water. He enjoyed both fresh water and saltwater fishing and many times would be out in his boat before daylight.
He was employed by the Commercial Airplane division of Boeing for nearly 18 years, supporting multiple programs and most recently contributed to the success of the 737 MAX and 777X programs.
He is survived by his wife, Terry, his parents, Aunt Virginia (Doug) Baker, Aunt Wilma (Frank) Witters, Uncle Del Busacker and several cousins, stepdaughters Kristi (TJ) Reyes and Kyla (Don) Simcox, 4 step grandchildren and many dear friends.
A Celebration Of Life will be held on June 18, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 17222 NE 8th St., Bellevue, WA 98008. There will be a reception to follow.
At his request, David was cremated and will be interred at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
In lieu of flowers, his family respectfully requests that donations be made in David’s memory to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center or the cancer charity of your choice.

I’m sad we have lost Dave as a co-worker. Also sad I cannot attend the service on the 18th.
My best memory of Dave is when we were both working overtime on a Saturday. I was pretty new in my return to Boeing. I was trying to figure out how to pull the information I needed from the many choices of Boeing Applications. He was so very kind to spend at least a half hour with me showing different options, which netted the result I needed. Every time I saw him in Auburn after that day, he always said “Hi” to me, by name, with a big smile and an uplifting voice. I know he showed that positive spirit in spite of his health struggles. He will be missed. All my sympathies to his Wife and family and other friends.

Dave was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a very courageous and generous person. He was one of the hardest working employees at the Boeing company- he could handle any task with creativity and perfection. He will be missed. I will see him in heaven.

Dave Owen had the best laugh of anyone I know. That laugh helped keep the stress low and helped me understand the gentle person he was. Dave was intense at work,, thus the nickname “Super Dave”. I have some amazing Dave stories to share and he lives in those memories for me. Dave’s struggle was dignified and valient. I was in awe of his calm demeanor when he would return to work after his treatments. I am so sad that his physical being is gone but, we will all see him again. Love of friends and family never dies.
I just heard the sad news and I’m still coming to terms with it… We were working different programs and we lost touch of sorts. Even after all most 30 years I still called him for advice and suggestions Yes I know we’ll meet again in heaven! He’ll be missed but will be in our hearts forever..RIP Brother
It has been many years since I have seen or talked to Dave. What I will always remember are the junior high days.Dave could always make me laugh. We would talk about the crushes we had on other people. He always brightened my day. I am so sorry for your loss.
Dave worked hard and inspired all of us to work hard and stay focus. Each day I go out to my dock where I see a fisherman in the distance and think of Dave. I then take a shot of fireball. Thank god Costco sells Fireball. RIP buddy you will be highly missed.
Dave was an inspiration to me no matter what you are facing to fight it with all you have. He was a good man who I look forward to seeing again. Thank you Dave for blessing our lives.

Sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. I haven’t seen Dave in years, we had gone to high school together, but over the years I would see a facebook post or something with Dave in it and my thoughts were always Dave was a good, nice guy. I wish I had gotten to know him better and stayed in touch longer. He was real.

My condolences to Dave’s parents and loved ones. I went to High School with Dave and dated him in our sophomore year. I haven’t seen Dave in years but he did reach out via social media shortly after starting this health battle and I wished him all the best. Rest in Peace Dave.
Shocked to hear of Dave’s passing. Was keeping in touch through work email and FB. Dave to me epitomized someone who enjoyed making others laugh. A gentle soul and a soft heart. Fond memories of our highschool days and friendship. You’ll be missed my dear friend.

Dave was a stalwart, upstanding member of our high school, and was a guy you could always rely on. Friendly and strong—it’s not surprising to read tributes that note his kindness. Dave, I am proud to have known you, and know that you are at rest in the loving embrace of God. Keep a spot open for me off the starboard stern, and we’ll catch some heavenly salmon together some day. May the Lord bless you and keep you, Dave.
I knew Dave at Boeing during my time working down in Renton. Dave always had a smile on his face and a funny story to tell to make me laugh. I also was in awe of how cheerful he was despite battling cancer. He will be missed greatly!
Some people excel at living life to fullest no matter what challenges are thrown at them. Dave was one of those people. He was a true source of inspiration and it was a great honor to know and work with him!
Dave will be missed. I got to know him when Boeing moved us to Canyon Park. I enjoyed his very thorough presentations when he gave updates to our senior’s group, plus his courage and can-do positive attitude.
I knew Dave from my days at Boeing as we were both new airplane focals. He was a guy with a truly amazing spirit. I recall his working from the hospital while undergoing treatments and then appearing at work again, always with that big smile and warm greeting. The world will miss you, Dave.
Although I only had the luxury of knowing Dave for a short while, it was a memorable one. The experiences I had working together with him were always enjoyable, and he always had a way to keep everything upbeat!
I had the pleasure of knowing Dave for 11 years. He was always upbeat and fun to talk to! The only time I’ve ever seen him mad or upset was when he was beating up on one of our suppliers, which was the most exciting thing I have ever witnessed here at Boeing 🙂 Even as little as a few months ago he would greet us in our cubicle with big smiles and fun things to say. You will be missed Dave!!
We will miss him so much. I will always remember our trip to lake Cushman, my 2 weeks I spent working with him, his famous “Davey burgers”, and all the rest of the good times we shared. I know you are watching over us dad and you will always be in our thoughts.
