Venelda L. Neary

Venelda L. Neary of Sun Lakes, AZ, age 84, passed away November 26, 2015. Born October 30, 1931 in Sanford, ME to Ovila & Venelda Lamarre. She was a 1949 graduate of St. Ignatius High School in Sanford. She graduated from St. Louis University with a B.S. degree in Nursing in 1956. It was during this period that she met John Neary who was also a student at St. Louis University. They were married on September 2, 1957 in Mankato, MN and took up residence in Minneapolis, MN where John had accepted employment with Honeywell, Inc. She was a devoted wife and mother of four sons. The family made a number of moves including international assignments in Germany, Belgium and France. The last international assignment was a four year tour in Paris, France which she loved very much as she was fluent in French.

Venelda and John retired in 1993 & moved from Clyde Hill, WA to Sun Lakes, AZ. She enjoyed traveling, art classes, bridge and volunteer work at the St. Peter’s Indian Mission School in Bapschule, AZ. She was also very active and involved at St. Steven’s Catholic Church in Sun Lakes. They subsequently returned to Issaquah, WA in 2011 and resided at the University House before settling in at Spiritwood where Venelda was placed in the memory care unit.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, John and four sons and their families: Timothy (Lisa) of Medicine Lake, MN, Thomas (Kara) of Sammamish, WA, Patrick (Helen) of Beaconsfield, England and Paul (Cindy) of Redmond, WA and twelve grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated December 14, 2015 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 Mountain Park Blvd SW, Issaquah, WA. Reception to follow.
