Lucille Haroldena Iglesias
Lucille “Lucy” Haroldena Iglesias passed away peacefully on March 27, 2015, in Seattle, at the age of 76 with her family and her devoted dog Princess by her side.
Born on December 13, 1938 in Seattle, Washington, Lucy lived briefly with her mother Lillian. Her mother and father were unable to care for her. Lucy lived at Sacred Heart Orphanage for most of her childhood. She attended several schools throughout the Seattle area including St. Benedicts, Holy Family and Immaculate Conception. The time she spent at the orphanage and the catholic schools she attended helped to cultivate a life of deep devotion to her Catholic faith. Lucy also lived with the Unland, Scranton and Beltran families as a foster child. The love these families bestowed upon her sparked a desire in Lucy to have a family of her own. She married and moved to Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood where she lived for the majority of her life and raised her eight children.
Lucy was a hard worker at times juggling multiple jobs to provide for her family. She spent many years in the restaurant business including stints at the Lowell, VM Rhododendron and of course several places in Chinatown. Prior to retiring in 2012 she spent over 10 years as an apartment manager for Epic Management. Throughout her career she was recognized numerous times for her outstanding customer service. She had a strong customer following, customers were constantly giving her gifts and cards to thank her for touching their lives. Her work was just another way for her to care for others.
Lucy loved to shop, cook and was the master of family traditions. She will always be remembered for her ability to sniff out a new restaurant, find the best bargain, and cook the tastiest food. Her dog Princess was the love of her life and a trusted companion. They were inseparable spending time together watching television, taking walks, long naps, shopping and cuddling.
Lucy was a beautiful woman with a heart of gold. She was fiercely independent, smart, resourceful and sassy. Growing up in the orphanage all she ever wanted was a family of her own. She dedicated her life to being a mother and grandmother. She was passionate about her love for her family. Lucy was a protective mother always looking out for what was best for her children. Her love for her family was patient, unselfish, it never failed or faltered. She taught us what it means to love and live life. The love that she shared with each person she touched will continue to glow with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Toquero; Father, S. Campos; Stepfathers, Chris Ancheta and Leon Toquero; two sons: Tomas Gabuyo ,Christo Casallo.
