Clair Charles Inghram

Clair Charles Inghram died Monday, November 17, 2014 of kidney and heart failure at home with his family at his side.  He was born at White’s hospital in Lewiston, Idaho on Feb. 20, 1929, the only son of Clarence and Grace (Fargo) Inghram.  Clair grew up with his sister, Winifred in Grangeville, Nezperce, and Lewiston, Idaho where his dad was on the state patrol.  He graduated from the University of Oregon.  He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity, graduating with a degree in Business Administration in 1951.  After graduation he worked for the Dept. of Agriculture and then as City Manager for the city of Moscow, Idaho.

He married Margie Wagner of Grangeville, Idaho in 1962.  During his forty year career in the grain trade he worked for Alber’s Milling, Arthur Hill, Grainex, and Parrish & Heimbecker.  Clair & Margie lived in Lewiston, Chehalis, Portland, Bellingham, and Tacoma before moving to their current home in Bothell where they raised their five children; Gail, Carol, David, Bruce, and Paul.

He was interested in his community and served on the city council and as Mayor of both Bothell and Grangeville, Idaho.  He also served on the King County Boundary Review Board and Evergreen Hospice Foundation Board.

He is remembered for his gentle spirit, dry sense of humor, sharp intellect, and steadfast devotion to his faith.  He was respected for his professional work with both the community and his business dealings.

Clair loved his family.  He enjoyed following the Oregon Ducks, the Mariners, Sonics, Trailblazers, Seahawks, Big Time Wrestling and all the Little League games and recitals of his grandchildren.  He was a long time member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church where he often gave the sermons when the pastor was absent.

He is survived by his wife Margie, his five children Gail and Steve Tri, Carol and Chris Shoemake, David and Lisa Inghram, Bruce and Mary Inghram, and Paul and Beth Inghram and his grandchildren Parker, Jacob, and Marie Tri, Eli and Ben Shoemake, Devon and Will Inghram, Kristi and Joey Inghram, and Anna and Cate Inghram.  His sister Winifred Clay also survive him.

The funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church at 19540 104th Ave NE in Bothell, WA.  A memorial service will be held in Lewiston, Idaho at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmanuel Presbyterian Church for the purchase of a piano.
