Mary Theresa Lis
Mary Theresa Lis of Dearborn passed away November 5, 2014. She was born on October 31, 1926 in Detroit, and worked for many years at Oakwood hospital as a Registered Nurse. The wife of the late Walter Lis, Mary is survived by her daughters Lorraine Ainsworth, Janet Pingston, and Bonnie (John) Norris, her sons Wally (Theresa Perry) Lis, Danny (AnneMarie) Lis, Larry Lis, and William (Stacey) Lis, as well as 21 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She also raised her nephew Dean Ferguson and her late niece Joanne East. Services will be determined at a later date.
The family suggest any donations to Columbia Lutheran Home, Seattle, Washington, 206-632-7400.

As the father of two I am amazed how you and your late husband Walter raised nine children. I learned from you to enjoy the good times and overcome the challenging times. I am forever grateful for the foundation you built in me and the opportunities you gave me. Love, Danny.
i remember your Mom so well. She & my Mother,Jane Matras were old friends. When I was in the hospital with brain surgery & later with complications, she always made it a point to stop in & see me. She & Wally not only raised 0 children & 2 others but we’re a great model to other kids who knew & loved them. God bless her as she looks down & keeps watch on all her loved ones. Take care & my sincere thoughts of sympathy to her wonderful family.
I miss you Grandma. I will always remember the times spent visiting you and Grandpa. Please watch down upon our family.

You have our sincere sympathy with the loss of your Mom. My family remembers so well the great friendship that your parents shared with our Mom and Dad (John(Red)and Clara Boland) since their school days!! I was always amazed that their friendship endured for so many years. Our parents have been gone for over 20 years and I still miss them.

Your mom was the cheerleader coach when my sister and I cheered for the Dearborn Thunderbirds. Great memories! She was a lot of fun and a special lady. Prayers go out for all of you.
Mom was a warrior and nuturer too. She fought for us many times when we had hard things hit each of us kids. As first born, I learned to help mom cook, clean, do diapers, and all the in house care chores. What is miss most is the wisdom she gave me at difficult times. The best memory was when i was visiting after college and we were in the kitchen. We had the 700 Club on the tv on the kitchen counter. We both stopped and listened to Pat Roberstson talk. I had gotten Born Again already and asked mom if she wanted that salvation of surety she would make heaven. She said yes. WE said the sinners prayer as Pat R. said it on the TV. She accepted Jesus Christ as her SAviour and Lord as she asked forgiveness for all her sins , short comings, failures, hurts, and anything she did not knowing it. She touched heaven that day. Her heart changed and she opened that door to heaven with her faith. I know she is there today. love you Mom, my friend. Lorraine
