Longtime Edmonds resident, Marie Sampson King passed away on her favorite day of the year, Christmas Day, at the age of 98 years old. She lived a full life and was well-cared for by Hillwood Senior Care during her last five years. She leaves behind her sons, Jason and Damian and their wives Linda and Eileen (respectively). Her husband of 65 years, James, preceded her in passing 2012, as did a daughter Diana in 2025. She also had three grandchildren, Andrew, Amanda and Aaron.
Marie was very active in local gardening, art, and other groups for many decades including the Edmonds Floretum Garden Club, Arboretum Unit #69, Evergreen District Garden Club, PEO Chapter GL, she helped found the Concerned Citizens of Edmonds and the Edmonds Beautification Committee in the late 1970s, member of The Nature Conservancy, Quad A Art Club, Seattle Co-Arts, NW Art Alliance, and long-time Seattle Opera annual subscriber. Proud graduate of West Seattle High School class of 1944.
A requiem Mass was held at North American Martyrs Latin Mass parish, then a private family burial ceremony took place on January 7th at the Edmonds Memorial Cemetery.
