Brent Michael Holm, 42, of Kirkland, Washington, passed away on October 27, 2025, surrounded by his family, after a courageous five-month battle with brain cancer.

Brent was born on June 22, 1983, in Kirkland, to Hans and Noreen Holm. He attended Lake Washington High School and went on to earn both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Washington. Brent dedicated his career to education and was a valued member of the staff at Northshore Middle School.

A lifelong athlete and avid Husky sports fan, Brent had an unshakable passion for athletics and an active lifestyle. His sharp wit and sense of humor filled every room he entered, leaving laughter and light wherever he went.

Brent is survived by his parents, Hans & Noreen Holm; his brothers, Bryan and Zachary; his sister, Brianna; and many other loving friends and family.

A celebration of Brent’s life will be held on Friday, November 7, at 11 am at St. John Vianney in Kirkland. In honor of Brent, guests are invited to wear purple. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Seattle Children’s Hospital in Brent’s memory, supporting the children and families facing the same fight he bravely endured.

Brent, you are so missed in the halls of Northshore Middle School by both staff and students. Our team of three is down to two and we are heartbroken. When we couldn’t find you in your office, we knew you were in the gym with a basketball in your hand…probably challenging a kid to a shooting contest, trash talking the whole time! I will miss our friendly Coug/Husky rivalry. You supported me in the tough job of guiding middle schoolers and were always willing to listen and share ideas. I will miss that. Rest in peace and will you never miss a three point shot again. Love, Christy

His presence could light up a room, and he had an amazing ability to make everyone feel valued and appreciated. Whenever he entered a classroom, his positive energy was infectious, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and encouragement.

  • Srikar Nekkanti says:

During my years as a student at Northshore Middle School, I had the opportunity to observe Mr. Holm teaching PE, often while I was participating in classes led by Mr. Wang or Ms. Tucci. Although I never had him as my official instructor, his warmth and enthusiasm were always unmistakable, especially when he addressed the entire gymnasium. His wonderful reputation as a genuinely kind and supportive teacher was consistently reinforced by my friends and peers who were fortunate enough to be in his class. He clearly made a strong, positive impression on the whole student body.
