Blake Anderson

Blake was born in Bellevue, WA at Overtake hospital on January 18, 1996 in a snowstorm. I think that is why Blake always loved the snow. He lived in Dekalb, IL, McMinnville, OR, Bend, OR, Eugene, OR, Hawaii, and then his last four years he lived in Kirkland, WA.

Blake was a love and a joy to be around. He was funny and had such a dry sense of humor. He was an incredible natural athlete. He LOVED playing baseball and golf and just about any sport. In high school he participated in waterpolo, lacrosse, tennis, track, and cross country and always enjoyed friends on his teams. A highlight for him was running in the state track meet, his junior year, at the University of Oregon where his relay team took 2nd in State in the 4×400 relay at Autzen Stadium. He loved to ski and spent many days up at Mt. Bachelor during his ten years in Bend. He attended the University of Oregon and graduated in 2019 with a BA in Psychology.

A highlight for me (mom) was skiing in Kiroro, Japan with Blake during college. Blake traveled the world and always had a curiosity for learning and reading and understanding other cultures and appreciating their food. He traveled in Europe, Japan, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Australia. We had an amazing time traveling in Australia together and he found some new favorite foods: Kangaroo and Crocodile.

Blake loved going to Disneyland which he did two times during his last year. He went with both of his sisters and mom and then his last trip was a couple of months before he passed away with his sister Jessica and mom. He was in heaven in Disneyland and loved the rides and Star Wars Land was a highlight for him.

Blake worked at SHARC in Sunriver as a lifeguard for many years and held many jobs through and after college. His last job was at Inglewood Golf Club which was his favorite. He shared many times that this job was made for him. Golf was a favorite and he spent many hours working the greens and also playing golf around the area. Blake was also an avid Mariners fan attending many games over his lifetime starting when he was a baby. He rarely missed watching an M’s game on TV. He attended his last game a couple of weeks before he passed away.

Blake struggled periodically with depression and trying to figure out his place in this world. Later in his life and looking back, he and our family believed he was on the Autistic Spectrum. He experienced some loneliness and lack of connection as part of his journey. He fought a good fight always trying to search for health and peace and connection.

Blake was adored by his sisters, Jessica and Brooklynn and his dad and mom. We all loved being around him. Blake was a Love. He appreciated his Grandma and Grandpa, Nana and Papa, aunts and uncles, stepparents and step siblings, and all of his cousins who also adored Blake.

Blake left a note that said he would see us in Heaven. He truly believed that he was going to a better place. He is there now and has Peace! God Bless you Blake!

    Dear Lori.

Words don’t do anything from my end. You really eulogized Blake so beautifully.

He fought a fight most of us don’t recognize. He was a true warrior. He’s smiling down on you now.

All the strength and peace you can garner. And give yourself the grace to know you too are a warrior.
