Carol Diane Dryer
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Carol Diane Dryer. On the morning of June 9th 2023, Carol took her final journey and passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Carol was born June 1, 1941 in Chicago, IL to Melroy and Marion Olafsen. The family moved across the country to California where she spent most of her young life with her mother, father and three brothers Paul, Melroy Jr and Harry (Bud). She later met and married John Dryer. They have four children, John Jr., Susan, Jennifer and Michele and during that time moved to Washington State.
Carol established her own roots in Kirkland raising her children. Her charisma allowed her to easily make friends while her dedication to family kept her close to all her extended family in California (visiting almost every Summer-Lots of road trips!).
She began her career at Sundstrand, then went to work for the Boeing Company. While at Boeing, she was presented with many awards for her ideas and exceptional service. Carol retired after 35 years of service.
Carol had many favorite past times. She was adventurous and enjoyed going on long drives just to see where the road would take her. She loved going to movies with family and friends, she loved bowling and won trophies for high scores and league championships. She loved animals and had many pets who were fortunate enough to have her as their surrogate Mom. Carol had a kind, giving and gentle nature and easily formed many lifelong friends. She made every life she touched feel important.
Carol loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her kid’s friends and the many neighbors and children in the cul-de-sac, where she lived for over 50 years but her true love and passion was her Children who loved her as much as she loved them.
Carol is survived by her son John Dryer and daughters Susan Walker (son-in-law Ted), Jennifer Heming (son-in-law Tony) and Michele Dryer (son-in-law Shane); grand-children Renae, Andrea, Theo (Alison), Phillip (Yuka), Sean, Anthony, Lucas (Roslyn), Nicole, Zachary and Kieran; great grand-children Keita and Dominique.
She was predeceased by her father Melroy, mother Marion, and brothers Paul, Mel and Bud.
Carol was the true definition of beautiful and touched so many lives with her kindness, charity, contagious laughter and heart-warming smile. She will be remembered fondly and missed greatly.
A celebration of life is planned for September 23, 2023 at 1:00pm in Mukilteo Washington at Jennifer and Tony Heming’s home.

I love you,Mom. ❤️
Johnny, Sue, Jennifer and Michelle – your mom was a beautiful human and I am grateful to have known her. I loved her laugh, her hugs, the way she made me feel. Like I was truly special. Thank you for sharing her with so many. I see her in all of you. In those little ways, she’s still with all of us. Take care ❤️
We were all so blessed to have Carol in our lives. Some of us were lucky to grow up with her. She was one of my go to moms. Our cul de sac days could never be repeated and she was a driving force behind it. Great bday parties, popsicles in the summer and a bandage fir a boo boo when needed. Love you!!
8 months after and I still miss her. Love you Mom. I hope you are happy and connecting with your family. I was fortunate to have had the honor of spending the last 3 years with you and really getting to know how much love you had inside. It is time I will always cherish. ❤️
