1973 – 2023
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce Jocelyn Coo Co passed away on May 8th in Renton Washington. She was 49 years old. Jocelyn was born October 13th, 1973 in Bacolod City, Philippines where she attended Trinity Christian school. In 1984, her family immigrated to the United States and settled in Seattle, Washington and proudly became US citizens in 1989. Jocelyn attended West Woodland Elementary, Asa Mercer Middle School, and West Seattle High School. After graduating high school in 1992, Jocelyn went on to get her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, a Master’s Degree in Education, and her Ph.D. in Education from the University of Washington.
Jocelyn, whose nickname was ‘Joy’ was an avid reader and growing up, you would always find her at the public library during the weekends. She had a thirst for knowledge and adventures from her books. She had a love of food, as well as cooking new dishes. She would always help cook during the holidays and wasn’t afraid of trying new things. Jocelyn had a great sense of humor, as well as a quick wit. She introduced her family to a love of dogs which had turned into a large part of their lives for many years.
Jocelyn worked as a teacher in the Seattle School District and eventually transitioned as a teacher’s coach at Highline School District. She loved teaching and creating curriculum. She loved her work and tirelessly helped everyone she could.
Jocelyn is survived by her parents and her brother. She will always be remembered and loved forever.
Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday, May 24th 12:30pm at St. Anthony’s Church.
