Doris Mae (Tierney) Wilkinson, 95, of Edmonds, Washington died peacefully in her sleep on September 8, 2022. She was born May 3, 1927 in Seattle, Washington to Agnes and Edward Tierney. Doris attended Immaculate Conception elementary school, Holy Names Academy High School and Seattle University.

Doris married George (Fab) Christman on Dec. 27, 1949 and they had five children (Shannon, Shawn, Karalee, Mary Jeane and JoAnn).

Once her youngest child started school, Doris accepted a secretarial job at the University of Washington – College of Electrical Engineering. She retired from the UW in 1989 after completing 20 years of service.

In 1973 Doris married Maurice (Wilkie) Wilkinson. From the 70s through the 90s Doris and Wilkie were avid Husky fans. With their season tickets they attended every home game, rain or shine. Doris enjoyed many activities including music, cooking and entertaining. But her absolute favorite was traveling. With their RV, they, along with nine other couples, spent several years touring the US. Additionally, they traveled extensively to Alaska, Hawaii, Ireland, northern Europe, Mexico, the Virgin Islands and cruised extensively, including through the Panama Canal.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband and Marilyn Christman (daughter-in-law). She is survived by her children Shannon Tierney, Shawn Christman (Barb Lautman), Karalee Woody, Mary Jeane Myers, and JoAnn (Doug) Bowen, her grandchildren Odin Thompson, Ryan Christman, Sarah Christman, Shannon (Herb) Gross, Brandon Woody, Brenna Myers, Michaela Myers, Jalena Myers, Alysha Myers, Rebecca Myers, Emma Myers and Elizabeth Bowen, and her great grandchildren Jonah Gross, Aemilia Borneman, Claire Gross and Anastacia Christman.

At every family gathering over the last 15 years Doris quoted Minnie Pearl by saying, ā€œIā€™m just so pleased to be here!ā€

A funeral mass officiated by Father Stephen Okumu will be held at 11 am on Fri., Oct. 14th at St. Thomas More Parish, 6511 176th St. SW, Lynnwood, WA. Reception following.

A private interment with her family will be held at Holyrood Cemetery.
