Lois Toomey

Lois Marie Toomey (Stone), born in Pottawattamie County, Iowa, passed away on January 27, 2021 in Kirkland, Washington.  Mrs. Toomey had just celebrated her 83rd birthday.  In addition to her parents, Olov Edward Stone and Mary Lydia Fisher, and sister, Alice, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Kelly Toomey and her cherished kitties, Oliver and Pumpkin.

Mrs. Toomey was a long time resident of Kirkland, having resided at Juanita Bay for 45 years.  She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Kirkland, WA.

Mrs. Toomey joined the U.S. Army in 1956 and attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, in New York.  During her time at West Point, she enjoyed trips with her fellow soldiers to New York where she enjoyed going to the theater.

Mrs. Toomey earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington She also pursued studies for a Master’s degree.  Mrs.  Toomey made these academic achievements despite not completing high school.

Mrs. Toomey retired from working for the State of Washington as a dental hygienist.

Mrs. Toomey enjoyed the arts and reading.  She enjoyed travelling with her husband and was very active in the community while her health allowed her to be.

As a testament to her, members of the community became part of Mrs. Toomey’s extended family.

As Lois joins her loved ones who predeceased her, she,  her wittiness, her spryness and her sense of humor will be dearly missed, however, her love and her memories will be forever cherished.

Mrs. Toomey will be buried at Kirkland Cemetery aside her loving husband Kelly.  Arrangement details are not available at this time.

Donations may be made in Lois’ name to Rebecca’s Rainbow,  a Washington State non-profit dedicated to the care and placement of pets whose owners are critically or terminally ill.
