Sharon Marie Merritt
Sept 29, 1953 – Feb 16, 2020
Sharon Marie Merritt passed away surrounded by her family on February 16th 2020. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Alice Hogan. Sharon was also preceded in death by her husband, best friend and partner in all things of 46 years, Rick. Sharon is survived by her children Rick, Kristina, Robert, and Darren. Sharon is also survived by and was blessed with six grandchildren Kee, McKenzie, Paige, Tristan, Lucy and Charlette.
Sharon was born in Eureka California but spent the majority of her life as a resident of the Sky Valley. She grew up in Gold Bar where her father was a teacher at the Sultan School District and where her mother drove school bus. Ultimately, Sharon would return to Sultan with Rick and her young family to be closer to her parents, where Sharon and Rick lived in their family home the rest of their lives.
Sharon was an accomplished business owner, worked as a hostess at the Monroe Petosa’s restaurant, and eventually decided to follow a career as a school bus driver for the Monroe School District, in order to have a more family focused schedule. Sharon would retire after 26 years of driving bus where she made so many friends and touched the lives of countless children and their families that she drove for all those years.
Sharon’s most cherished thing in life was her family. She passed along so many lessons to her children and grandchildren on the importance of family and how important it is to take care of one another. Sharon’s unexpected passing has been difficult for her friends and family, but her wisdom, love, and lessons of generosity will live on through all who she touched in life. Although her time apart from Rick was brief, it does comfort the family to know that the two of them are now together once again.
