Thomas Edward Falsetto
Thomas Edward Falsetto, long-time resident of the Seattle and Kirkland area passed away peacefully on Sunday, 31 December 2017, in Bothell. He was born in Seattle to Fortunato and Ethel Falsetto on August 1,1931. Tom is survived by his wife, Lucienne Falsetto, stepchildren Mara (Garrett) Ferencz and Aaron (Sarai) Firth. His first wife Joanne and he were married 60 years, surviving children are; John, Stephen (Naomi), David (Patricia), Sharon (Jim) Hummer and Marybeth (Cary) Hobbs, along with 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Joanne, daughters, Rita Whalen and Diane Hoffman, his parents and brother Joe Falsetto. Tom loved his family, they were his pride and joy. He will be greatly missed by them and his many friends.
Tom was a loving, hard working dedicated family man. He enjoyed picnic outings, fishing, hunting, camping and traveling across the country. His passion was coaching youth football and baseball for the Catholic Youth Organization at St. Edward’s parish in Seattle. He was well known for taking an underachieving football team to four consecutive championships, 33 games without a loss. He not only taught how to win, but to be champions in life. His instinctive leadership will long be remembered by those whom he touched. His coaching skills won him state recognition and he is credited with coaching youth who went on to play in the National Football League.
After graduating from Seattle Prep with honors, Tom worked for Northwest Construction and Valley Cement as a operating engineer/foreman. He was responsible for the construction of interstates I-5, I-405 and I-90. He served as a general superintendent throughout the completion of the
Alaskan Pipeline. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 302, for 66 years.
Tom, a devout Catholic, gladly served as an altar boy during his youth. He also served as an usher at St. Edwards parish and as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at St. Louise and St. John Vianney parishes.
Services will be held at the St. John Vianney Church on Wednesday February 7, 2018. Rosary at 10AM, Mass at 11AM, reception to follow. Burial services will be at Holyrood Cemetery at 2PM.
