Edris Eleanor Huber
Edris Eleanor Huber (née Graham) passed away peacefully in her sleep while at home on the warm summer morning of June 6th, 2015. She was the incredible age of 92.
Edy was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota on January 27, 1923 to Frank and Martha Graham. Edy and her parents relocated to Kirkland, Washington in 1943. Her fiancé, Jim Huber, joined them after his service in World War II. The couple was married on January 20, 1946 at Holy Family Parish Church. Edy soon became the loving mother of four children: Karen, Bob, Jim, and Michele. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren! Widowed in 1974, Edy never lost loyalty to her great love and was a strong single parent.
Edy was known for her unparalleled work ethic. In her younger years, she held a place in her high school’s honor society, worked at the shipyards during World War II and then as a legal secretary. Later, she became a dedicated employee of the US Postal Service for over 30 years. Always courteous above expectations and delightfully well put together; every single person she served loved her dearly. Beyond her career, Edris was fiercely devoted to her family as a great homemaker.
Edy was a traditional and elegant woman who will be remembered wearing beautiful pin curls in her naturally snow white hair. She was known for her wit, charm, and magnificent sweet tooth. Her grandchildren adored delightful treats from her candy drawer. She was also an avid lover of soap operas and word searches – sneaking home at lunch hours to catch the latest television drama!
Edris loved animals, particularly Cocker Spaniels. She owned three in her lifetime named Taffy, Beethoven, and Cody (properly named Zipcode from her work at the Post Office). Edris also enjoyed weekend camping trips with her children. Never forgetting the s’mores supplies!
In 2004, Edris suffered from a severe stroke, but she survived against all odds. Given only a few months to live, she continued on for eleven more years. The loving support of her family and the comfort of her home is to thank for that. She will live on forever in our hearts.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 13th at 11am at Holy Family Parish Church in Kirkland. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Stroke Association.
