Richard Ray Smith

Richard Ray Smith, 85 years old died in Mt. Vernon, Washington on October 3, 2015.  Born May 3, 1930 in Wenatchee, Washington to Clarence and Helen Smith.  Richard and Nelma Smith married in 1954, had 6 children; Barbara, Gloria, Daniel, Darrell, David Alan and Stacey.

In 1970 Richard met his beautiful soulmate, Shirley Ann Shay and they were married in 1972.  Shirley gave him seven stepchildren; Cheryle, Robert, Colleen and Bryon, Patti, Darrell and Kevin.  Together hey adopted her son Dominick.

Richard and Shirley have forty-three grandchildren and a nephew, fifty-two great grandchildren.  Numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.  Richard’s lovely sister Byrdeen resides in Deer Park, Washington with husband Larry.  Predeceased are his brothers LaVern, Howard and Dale.  Son David Alan and grandchildren, Michael Shane, Daniel Warren, Crystal Marie and Cynthia Ann.

Richard was proud to have served his country in the United States Navy from 1947-1969 where he achieved the impressive rank of Master Chief prior to his retirement.

He was loved dearly and will be missed.
