To the family of Doug, Doug was a wonderful friend. We chatted on the phone and emailed often. I had the opportunity to visit him as well as he would come to Chicago. I will miss him dearly.

To Dougs family, I hope that by reading these comments about Doug will help ease the sorrow you must feel. Although many of us remember him from many years ago from High School it sounds like he didn't change from the soft spoken gentle person that we all seem to remember. I especially remember at wresting matches that I wanted Doug to win more than anybody and the roar of the crowd when he did, it was GREAT!! Bless you Doug.

Ditto to what sister Annie says...my greatest memories too are "practicing wrestling moves with you and being crushed both in wrestling and football scrimmages. A soft spoken gentle giant you were...blessings to you and your family.

My heart is sad to hear about Doug's passing. Doug- I can recall your sweet, soft voice and your gentle spirit. So many fun and fond memories during wrestling season...keeping score for you wrestlers was a lot of fun (believe it or not)OK so I didn't make "mat-mate" but dang I did do a good job of keeping score for you!! I think your football uniform was always the muddiest too - I think you worked harder than all the others! Love you Doug and I know you are at peace and keeping watch for those of us who will undoubtedly follow someday.

Doug, you were always there as a good friend in high school. We always were joking with eachother. I have thought about you throughout my adult years and it always brought a smile to my face. We loved you and will miss you.

Doug, you became my friend in high school and I have never forgotten you through the 20+ years since I last saw you. Your quick smile, with a hint of the devil and your red hair. I remember how proud you were (and how proud we were of you) when you turned that corner in your wrestling career and became top at your game. All those pins hanging from your lettermans jacket.

The Tahoma National Cemetary is a beautiful place. I will visit you my next trip to Washington. Where Heroes Lie. Rest in peace my friend.

Doug visited me at work when he returned from boot camp. I did not recognize him! He stood so tall and proud in his uniform. That is how I will always remember him.

Doug - A gentle giant that carried a smile and a
sense of humor with him throughout his life.

My brother was quick to help anyone in need. Everyone that new Doug can remember a time that he made you laugh at his antics. His wit and genuine concern for others was self evident.

He left this earthly life knowing he had made it a better place while he was here.

Doug will be missed by all and is now looking down on his family and friends with peace in his heart.

Goodbye brother. I will miss the lively debates that we had twice a week to try to solve "everything". The course you are on now promises a fair wind and calm seas
